Tasmanian Jason White was racing his car in Australia’s 2011 Targa High Country, when the highly modified Gallardo caught fire. Despite being only halfway around the stage he decided to press on to keep ahead of the following Nissan GT-R and subsequently crossed the line for victory.

White decision to risk everything may not have been as foolhardy as it appeared as he explained later: “It was on fire from about the half way mark, but we thought it was best to get up to the finish where there were more fire extinguishers, rather than trying to put it out with ours. And obviously there was a win at stake so we just pushed on".
